A monstrous nightstand with jaws for drawer pulls. This self-directed project allowed me to explore unconventional materials and biomorphic style in furniture. The underlying plywood construction is coated in a layer of paper pulp, adding durability as well as a fleshy texture. The tapered Ash wood legs extend outwards to emulate a wild animal’s stance. The paper pulp coating was made from a mixture water, glue, joint compound, and discarded cardboard.
